Buchholz Relay Photos

Gas-detector relay (known as a Buchholz relay) for conservator- type transformers, generally when rated 7.5 MVA and larger. The device is mounted in the pipe between the highest part of the transformer tank and the conservator. The relay is equipped with two sets of contacts, one for alarm upon gas accumulation and one for trip upon oil surge.
